Firelands Hyjal Daily Guide

There’s tons of guides to doing the new firelands dailies, include how-to’s, and even a map of how to run the runes for Enduring the Heat.

This is not one of those guides. This is the shorthand reference to gaining marks, and what it gets you, as well as the answers to what to unlock when.

For more details, check out the Wowhead megaguide.

Hyjal Daily Progression:

Starting from scratch, the one time quests will give you 16 marks.
Repeatable dailies outside at the Sanctuary of Malorne give you 4 marks.
This gives you the 20 marks required, on the first day, to turn in and start the second stage, inside the Firelands.
Once you’ve completed the inside, and done the dead-end quest to mess with Alysra as a green dragon, you will unlock another daily outside at Sanctuary of Malorne: Protectors of Hyjal. So feel free to nip back out and get that done. (Note, that if you started the day the patch came out, you had a maximum of 12 marks the first day, taking two more days at four marks a piece, to get to 20 marks.)

From there, each day:

Outside at Sanctuary of Malorne: 6 Total marks
- 1 mark: Random quest: Kill X or pick up Y type.
- 3 marks: Random quest: Two step quest to do a thing, then automatically gives you the quest to kill a portal ambassador.
- 2 marks: Protectors of Hyjal daily.

Inside at Malfurion’s Breach: 8 Total marks
- 2 marks: Heal 8 Hyjal Defenders
- 2 marks: Kill 8 Charred Combatants
- 2 marks: Plant 5 Smothervine
- 2 marks: Random Quest to kill a specific thing.

Once you earn 150 marks, you can aid either the Druids of the Talon, or the Shadow Wardens. The choice is irrelevant, as you will get the same amount of marks per day, can only quest with one group each day, and there are no vendors to unlock. I’d suggest going with the Shadow Wardens first unless you REALLY love air vents and jumping puzzles. Aiding a faction will give you 5 one-time quest marks, and add another 1 mark daily at Malfurion’s breach.

Regardless of which faction you choose, it will follow this pattern: 10 Total marks
- Complete the dailies at Malfurion’s Breach, which opens up:
- 2 marks: Complete the single “protect a druid” quest. (The Forlorn Spire/Into the Fire) that opens:
- 8 marks: Complete the additional 4 quests, either 2 then 2 (Druids), or 3 then 1 (Wardens).

Plus:
- 1 mark per faction: Each faction will add another unlockable daily at Malfurion’s Beach. (Anren & Tholo / Firelasher dailies)

Daily Totals:
You will have an earning potential of 25 marks per day at the stage where you have aided a single faction, and 26 marks/day once you have aided the second.

Once you have aided both factions, you now work towards any of the following, and this is where your choices actually matter:

- The Moonwell – 15 one time marks, and a vendor: Ayla Shadowstorm.
- The Armorer – 10 one-time marks, and 2 daily marks: 1 Daily at Malfurion’s Beach, 1 at the factions, and a vendor: Damek Bloombeard.
- Assist the Elder – 3 marks: Unlocks an additional daily at the factions, and a vendor: Varlan Highbough.

Depending what what you choose first will determine how many marks/day you can get. 26 + 0, 2 or 3.

Edit: This section and the chart have been updated as of 7-19-11 with information from Live servers.

Which faction you do first makes no difference in finishing any faster than others.

  6. Ragnaros says:

How do you get the one time marks for doing the armorer first? I don’t see any such 10 marks for one time bonus thing.

    • Jadiera says:

Having not done the Armorer yet myself, I can’t confirm this directly, but I will try to find out, and update the post accordingly.

    • Jadiera says:

Confirmed with a friend that there do not seem to be any one-time quest marks for the Armorer.
Updated the chart, there is no “best” way to do the unlocks, though I think from a specifically Resto Shaman perspective, Moonwell probably has the most to offer.

  7. Phaedria says:

None of these seem great for Resto especially seeing as how you can get better from the first boss or two of FL or valor points. At this point I am having a hard time giving up any of my spirit gear. These will make great gear for my OS but I am disappointed that there is no spirit gear available. Even the trinket is only a marginal improvement in INT and while I love me some Mastery, the on use is just not very attractive to me. Maybe I am clutching my sustainability gear to tightly.

I’ll have to make my first choice today though, not sure what I plan on doing.

    • Jadiera says:

I’ve been messing with transitioning a lot of the spirit on my stuff to other stats. At least insofar as normal mode bosses, I’ve done them with as little as 1477 spirit, though most of the shift was to turn that into Crit, and as I’ve swapped over to tank healing with this raid tier, Crit is still doing well for regen for me.

I am saving the trinket for messing with on fights where I know there’s moments where people are getting destroyed. End of Beth, Rhyo, scorpion form on Staghelm, it’d even be good to jam on the blazing infernfo fire everywhere burning death part of Alys. In the same moments where all the other healers with burst cooldowns would blow them, moonwell can act like that for us.

The rest of it, if you have higher ilvl gear from either T11 heroics or T12 raiding, then it really doesn’t matter.

Moonwell however, is the superior choice because of Leyara’s Locket.

  8. KoleBigEars says:

OK…there is something I don’t understand and it’s driving me nuts. “You will have an earning potential of 25 marks per day at the stage where you have aided a single faction, and 26 marks/day once you have aided the second.”

How!?? I end up with a total of 28 daily (25+3 from the Ancients daily.) Since you can only complete either the Wardens or the Druids daily the Anren/Tholo or Firelasher have the same limitation…

Thanks for such a great guide though…best info I’ve found so far!

    • Jadiera says:

Nope. You can do the Firelasher daily, AND the Anren/Tholo daily each day, regardless of which faction you did the other quests for. Anren or Tholo will be present at the Shadow Wardens or the Druids of the Talon areas with their 1 mark daily. The Firelasher will always be at Malfurion’s Stand.

You have to have done the quest to unlock the firelasher from the Shadow Wardens area, or Anren/Tholo from the back of the cave for the Druids of the Talon to have them available.

      • KoleBigEars says:

So basically you have to do the Druids everyday just so you can reach the cave and Anren/Tholo*. Lame :(

        Thanks for the response!

        * – Unless there is some way to get to the cave without getting burnt crispy…ohhh please let there be a way (I really dislike the jumping/flying quests!)

        • Jadiera says:

You only have to do the Druids once to get down in the cave and rescue Anren from the back. Once you’ve done that, he’ll be at whatever camp you do for the day with his daily.

But if you want all the achievements, you’ll have to do the Druids more than once anyway.

          • KoleBigEars says:

Ahhhh ok, that explains why I got some many extra Marks today when I did it for the first time. Thank you for all this info! My guildies were of no help and surprisingly I have not seen much info about this little important things!

            Thanks again!
